Water Color Fish - Grand Rapids Story by Many Lives
Sometimes the best stories happen when we don’t plan them.
Taylor and I were just on our way to the cat café next door when we noticed the sign-
Something is mesmerizing about tanks stacked like glowing windows—each one its own little universe. The light caught Taylor’s face, flickered over coral, and drifted across the floor. Fish darted through tunnels of light and shadow, their movements like watercolor in motion. The photos from that afternoon weren’t planned or posed. They just happened.
We love it when that happens.
As sisters-and as collaborators-moments like these remind us what Many Lives is really about: noticing what’s already here-letting curiosity lead, and trusting that what pulls our attention is worth exploring.
If you look closely, you can see reflections of our faces in some of the glass panes, the overlap of human and habitat, the mix of wonder and calm that filled the room. For a few minutes, the whole world felt suspended in color.

Closing reflection:
Maybe that’s the point—to keep finding light in unexpected places. Whether it’s a fish store, a cat café, or a quiet farm morning, every corner of this life offers something to notice, nurture, and remember.
